IRENT rents powerful Linux cluster

Delphi Studio for Imaging (DS4I) had developed software for a major oil concern’s 3D seismic imaging activities. To test the software, a sufficiently powerful Linux cluster was required.

What IRENT did:

• Supplied a Linux calculation cluster, with maintenance included
• Provided access via an SSH environment
• Installed the Ubuntu Linux system.

The result:
After installing a few specialist tools, Delphi Studio for Imaging was able to use the cluster.
During the 1-year rental period the cluster was in constant use, enabling the necessary calculations to be made.

About the company:
Delphi Studio for Imaging specialises in dedicated assignments for companies in the upstream oil and gas industry, mainly connected with the seismic imaging of subterranean structures at depths of up to 5km, as well as the associated processes.

The Delphi research consortium at TU Delft in the Netherlands has been highly successful in developing new algorithms for preprocessing, imaging and inversion for the geo-energy industry in relation to seismic reservoir exploration and monitoring.
