Proof of Concept Westfriesgasthuis

Project description:
Proof of Concept (PoC) of PowerEdge R640 servers for the Citrix environment and SQL Database servers.

Why was a Proof of Concept needed?
To obtain certainty about performance (in order to determine sizing).

The result:
The Proof of Concept was successful. Westfriesgasthuis and its partner Infotheek were delighted with how it went, and the involvement of Dell EMC (in brainstorming/offering support) and the expertise provided by IRENT via the rapid delivery of test servers helped to ensure a successful result. Ultimately a total of 30 servers were purchased. HPE had been the standard at Westfriesgasthuis, but following the successful Proof of Concept the organisation has now switched to Dell EMC PowerEdge servers.

About the organisation:
Westfriesgasthuis is a general hospital in the Dutch town of Hoorn, which has external policlinics in the towns of Heerhugowaard and Enkhuizen. The hospital was founded in 1983 following a merger between the Hoorn hospitals “St. Jan” and “Algemeen Streekziekenhuis” and Enkhuizen’s “Snouck van Loosen”.
